Note: Held By: CCOTE The Truss Uplift and Support Schedule submitted is an excellent example; however additional clarification regarding some of the connectors specified must be submitted in order to complete the Building Permit Application plan review. 1. Please provide clarification regarding the truss uplift and support schedule that was submitted on 2/07/2006 per the following comments. a. Based on the plan review detail 5/S2.1 was considered to be the typical roof truss to cmu connection detail. This detail shows a single top plate that conflicts with detail 6/S2.1 and other notes found on the drawings referring to a double top plate. Please clarify where double and single top plates are to be located. If double top plates are to be located everywhere then submit two copies of a signed and sealed revised detail 5/S2.1. b. Some of the trusses bearing on the exterior masonry walls have an H8 connector as the primary or alternate connector specified. Please clarify how this will be installed with a single top plate. The Simpson literature that I have reviewed identifies the use of a double top plate with this connector. c. Some of the trusses bearing on the exterior masonry walls have an HTS20 connector specified. Clarify how this will be installed with a single top plate. The Simpson literature that I have reviewed identifies an alternate connector for connecting wood to masonry (HTSM20) with much lower uplift values. Is it your intent to wrap the top plate, if so will this require attachment to the underside of the top plate prior to the top plate installation? Or, is it your intent to fasten to the face of the top plate and the face of the masonry wall? Please provide a detail showing how the connector is to be installed as well as the location and type of fasteners to be used.

Please submit revised drawings/items that address the following items in order for the City to complete the Building Permit Application plan review. Item Number 6 & 9 require additional information/clarification as follows: Item#6: Engineer response states that connectors to be used are referenced on sheet 12/S2.0 for truss to masonry wall connectors and S1.1 uplift connector schedule for frame walls. Both of these items only contain generic connector information. The City requires project specific connectors to be identified on the drawings. Please provide a project specific truss connector schedule listing each truss and connector to be used for each point of connection for each truss designation. Truss Connector Schedule must be signed and sealed by the design professional. Item #8: Engineer response indicated LVL to post connectors and stated that not LVL to LVL connectors other than those listed on the drawings were required. This leaves the connection at the outside corner of the Cabana unclear since there are two LVL's coming together over a 5 ½" column. Please verify that the column will provide adequate bearing and that the LVL's will not be connected together. In addition, please clarify whether the LVL's shown at the Cabana are continuous over intermediate columns or if the LVL's span from column to column; if column to column respond to attachment and bearing issue at shared column. Indicate on drawings what type of door is to be used for door from garage to house. Reference FRC 2004 Section R309.1. 2. Indicate how attic access will be constructed to comply with FRC Section R309.2. 4. The Energy Packets submitted are outdated forms. Resubmit new 600A-2004 forms, Energy Gauge v.4.0. 5. Provide bond beam transition detail. 6. Sheet S0.1 indicates truss connectors to use for 1 and 2 ply trusses, howver the truss layout indicates that there are some 3 and 4 ply trusses. Please provide connectors to use for these trusses as well. 7. Sheet S1.0 contains some detail marks referencing detail 4M/S2.0, however this detail could not be found on sheet S2.0. Please provide detail. 8. Sheet S1.1 indicates some of the LVL and Beam connectors to be used. Please indicate all connectors for each beam and LVL connection/intersection (LVL to LVL, LVL to Post, LVL to CMU, Beam to Post). 9. Sheet S1.1 has details 1/S1.1 and 2/S1.1 however there are no references to these details on the plan. Either add detail marks on plan as to where they apply, if they are not to be used then remove. 10. Sheet S1.1 has a reference of LB-1 on the plan for some of the masonry openings. What is LB-1? 11. Provide lintel type, sizes, filled/unfilled, reinforcing type size and number to be used for all masonry openings. 12. Sheet S2.0, S2.1, S3.0, S4.0: Remove all details that do not apply to this specific project.
