| Note: Held By: SLOCKHART Unified Land Development Code Chapter 12, Section 12.04.06.G. states backlit awnings are prohibited. The proposed banding does not meet this section of the Code, as the blue that is proposed is a copyright color for Mobil Corporation. Unified Land Development Code Chapter 12, Section 12.05.02.C.3. states "no additional sign area is permitted for canopies over fuel operations. However permitted wall sign area of the principal structure or building may be transferred to the canopy, as long as the canopy sigane is only situated on the sides of the canopy facing a right-of-way. This does not apply to required signage pertaining to safety or hazardous situations. Based upon the above, the applicant's request for a backlit awning around the existing gas station canopy is recommended for denial because: 1. Backlight awnings are prohibited. 2. The applicant has already been permitted for a wall sign transfer from the building to the canopy. 3. The site does not conform to other elements of the LDC, including setbacks and landscape buffer widths. | |||
