Note: 16 Utility Drive 9/6/17 Permit # 2017060801 1. Pull all loose dirt off the top of the rootballs of the trees and shrubs and re-apply mulch so that it does not contact the base of the shrubs or tree trunks. Top of rootball is to be level with adjacent grade. Form a watering earth dam around the outside of the root balls (not on top of it) per sheet L-2. 2. Cut nylon straps off cedar tree rootballs and pull back the burlap and remove off top of rootballs. 3. Trees not properly staked per the plans. The stakes in the ground are only about 6” deep and some have pulled out already. Trees will be down with the upcoming hurricane if not staked properly. Also strapping is not to be tied tightly around the trunks of the tree. Need a loop to allow for trunk growth in the first year. 4. On cedar tree in the southeast corner needs to have more dirt placed around the rootball as there is a sunken out cavity. 5. Remove dead trees and debris from site. 6. Cedar trees are starting to show signs of drought stress and will die unless they get more water. Forming the watering dam as noted in #1 will help in this regard. It is my opinion that unless a permanent irrigation system for bubbler is installed on the trees they will not survive. 7. One dead holly shrub in west buffer is dead and needs replacement. 8. Per the plans, need one more holly shrub on the east side of the gate.
LDSC-PRE-PLANTING TREE QUALITY 08/22/2017 APPROVED JBEAUDET
Note: THIS IS A REINSPECTION 6 Red Cedar trees are FL.#1 5" cal. 12ft tall, 36" root ball
LDSC-PRE-PLANTING TREE QUALITY 08/01/2017 Disapproved -FEE REQUIRED WBUTLER
Note: 8/1/17 WMB All 6 cedar trees were rejected due to the tree rootball size not being within the required diameter size specified in the Grades and Standards for Nursery Plants. The trees caliper sizes were between 4-1/2" and 5" caliper and for a 4-1/2" caliper cedar tree (type Two Matrix), the rootball size should be no less than 44". If the trees were hardened off, which these trees appear to have been, then the rootball diameter can be reduced to 36". No tree measured had a rootball diameter greater than 32" and most were smaller than that.
