Additions require upgrades to existing smoke alarms. Add note to plans indicating the the exiting home will be provided with smoke alarms connected to the building's electrical system and interconnected. Smoke alarms shall be provided in each bedroom and at a point centrally located in hallways, rooms or other spaces in proximity to bedrooms. Smoke alarms are subject to inspection at time of final inspection for proper location and to check they are interconnected. R314.2.2, R314.2, R314.4, R3124.5, R314.6. 5. Enclosing back porch into a sunroom or habitable space is an addition by definition. Additions require installation of carbon monoxide alarms in existing home. Add note to plans indicating carbon monoxide alarms will be added to home and located within 10 feet of each existing bedroom. Carbon monoxide alarms are subject to inspection at time of final inspection for proper location and operation. R315.1, R315.1.1 R315.1.2, R315.1.3. 6. Soffits are 24 inches wide. Provide soffit construction detail in accordance with Section R704.2.1 through R704.2.4.
