Work has commenced on the parking expansion project at the Indian Trails Sports Complex. Crews are working to complete tree removal, as well as concrete and walkway removal to make way for the new parking area, located adjacent to the baseball fields.

At its January 6, 2026, meeting, the Palm Coast City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing $1.545 million for a parking expansion at the Indian Trails Sports Complex. The project will add more than 120 new parking spaces to support the growing demand created by expanded youth and adult sports programs, larger sports alliance rosters, and an increase in year-round regional tournaments hosted at the facility.

The expansion will add a total of 127 new parking spaces, including 93 asphalt spaces and 34 additional pervious[EG1]  spaces, helping alleviate congestion during peak activity times. The project will also improve accommodation for large community gatherings, including local church events, and provide a potential staging area for emergency response operations when needed.

“This is a big win not just for athletes, but for our community at large,” said James Hirst, City of Palm Coast Parks and Recreation Director, “Indian Trails Sports Complex brings together families, spectators, and visitors from across the region. By expanding parking, we’re improving access and safety, easing congestion during busy events, and supporting local businesses that benefit from tournaments and year-round programming at the complex.”

Construction will be completed in-house by the City’s Public Works Department Special Projects Division and managed by the Stormwater & Engineering Department’s Parks and Facilities Division. By utilizing city crews, the City is able to avoid substantial third-party contracting costs, resulting in significant savings for taxpayers while maintaining strong oversight, quality control, and fiscal responsibility.

Funding for the project is provided through the FY 2026 Recreation Impact Fee Fund, which is dedicated to supporting infrastructure improvements that directly serve recreational growth and facility demand.
