Event Information
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is offering Coquina Rock Beach Walks on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 29.
Join park volunteer Jim Gleason on this illuminating beach walk. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the second largest outcropping of coquina rock on the Atlantic Coast with a guide. Join us for an up close encounter with coquina rock and discover the inhabitants of the rock, the geological makeup of the rock, and explore the rock itself. Participants will also gain a better understanding of the beach ecosystem as a whole as the birds, shells, and plants that are found along the way will be identified.
Reservations are not required. Participants will meet at the beachside parking lot and are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for rough terrain. The price of the program will be included in the regular park entrance fee of $2.00 per person on bicycle, $4.00 per vehicle for single occupancy or $5.00 per vehicle, up to eight people
