Award-Winning and Built for You: Palm Coast’s Mobile App Surges Ahead in Florida

The City of Palm Coast is thrilled to announce it has been awarded the 2026 Florida Local Government Information Systems Association (FLGISA) Award for Innovative Use of Technology to Serve the Public, a statewide honor recognizing cities that push boundaries and elevate resident experience through forward‑thinking digital solutions.

The award was presented at the FLGISA Annual Conference, held July 20–22, 2026, in Aventura, Florida, where Palm Coast stood out for its bold, in‑house development of the official Palm Coast mobile app, a powerful tool designed specifically for the way Palm Coast residents interact with their city every day.

“There aren’t many cities that have developed their own mobile app in-house,” said Doug Akins, Director of Information and Technology for the City of Palm Coast. “We built this app from the ground up to match exactly what our residents need. That means we control the experience, the speed, and the efficiency — and this award proves others in the industry see how unique and valuable that approach really is.”

The City’s award-winning app puts real-time information directly in residents’ hands. With more than 4,000 downloads across iOS and Android, the app has already transformed how the community stays informed and connected. Residents can submit service requests, snap photos of an issue, track updates from staff, manage their utility accounts, monitor water consumption, read the latest news, browse upcoming events, and receive instant notifications — all from one sleek, city-built platform.

Since launch, residents have created 765 cases through the app, triggering more than 2,042 real-time update notifications across devices. And this is only the beginning.

Palm Coast is actively developing a new “Emergency Mode,” a streamlined experience that instantly shifts the app into a crisis‑ready tool featuring shelter information, urgent alerts, and critical updates front and center during hurricanes or other emergencies.
