Fun in the Sun Campers Name 2026 Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup Mascot “Thrashley” the Bull Shark

The City of Palm Coast’s Fun in the Sun Summer Camp participants have officially named this year’s Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup mascot! After a special naming activity on Monday, July 13, campers selected “Thrashley” as the winning name for the 2026 Bull Shark mascot.

The City of Palm Coast invites residents, families, businesses, and community organizations to join together for this annual volunteer effort to help remove litter from waterways, parks, neighborhoods, and other areas throughout the City.

Thrashley will be featured on this year’s event materials for the 19th Annual Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup, taking place on Saturday, September 19, from 8 a.m. to noon. While Thrashley will not make a physical appearance at the event, the mascot will help represent the community’s commitment to protecting local waterways and keeping Palm Coast clean.

Last year, 287 volunteers came together to remove 1,600 pounds of litter from Palm Coast's waterways, parks, neighborhoods, and roadways. This annual community effort helps improve water quality, protect wildlife, and preserve the natural beauty that makes Palm Coast a great place to live, work, and play.

"For 19 years, our community has demonstrated an incredible commitment to preserving the natural beauty that makes Palm Coast so special," said Residential Solid Waste Collections Supervisor Alyssa Roscoe. “Whether you're picking up a single bag of litter or spending the entire morning cleaning an area, every volunteer makes a meaningful difference. We hope to see even more residents join us this year as we continue this important tradition of environmental stewardship.”

The Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) continues to support the City’s environmental stewardship efforts through its partnership with the Intracoastal Waterway Cleanup. FIND has provided funding support for the event since its inception in 2008, helping provide the resources needed to make this annual cleanup possible.

The cleanup begins at 8 a.m. at the Palm Coast Community Center, where participants will receive gloves, trash bags, safety information, and a commemorative event T-shirt while supplies last. Volunteers may choose to clean designated areas along the Intracoastal Waterway or any location within Palm Coast city limits. Following the cleanup, participants are invited back to the Community Center for a community luncheon and awards ceremony at 11 a.m.
