At the October 20, 2026 City Council Business Meeting, the Palm Coast City Council approved a lease agreement with the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA, moving forward with plans to bring a new recreation and wellness facility to Palm Coast’s Town Center.
The agreement establishes a 35-year lease for City-owned property located at 1580 Central Avenue, where the YMCA plans to construct and operate a new facility offering fitness, aquatics, youth activities, and family programming.
The approximately 46,300-square-foot facility is expected to feature a 50-meter swimming pool, a separate family pool, a wellness center, gymnasium space, childcare areas, locker rooms, and additional amenities designed to serve residents of all ages.
The project, estimated at approximately $14 million, is expected to be supported through a combination of funding from the YMCA, the City of Palm Coast, Flagler Schools, state appropriations, private contributions, fundraising efforts, and other community partners.
During the meeting, Palm Coast Mayor Mike Norris said, “I’d also like the residents to know that this project has state involvement, school involvement, YMCA involvement, and the City’s involvement in helping us get this done. The community needs this. I think it’s going to enhance Town Center tremendously.”
In addition to expanding recreational opportunities for residents, the facility is expected to provide additional resources for local youth and school athletic programs, including competitive swimming and aquatic activities.
The project is currently targeting construction beginning in late 2026, with completion anticipated in winter 2029, subject to financing, permitting, and other project requirements.
With the lease agreement approved, the City and YMCA will continue coordinating the next steps needed to advance the project.
