City of Palm Coast Welcomes Newly Sworn-In Mayor and Council Members

Palm Coast Mayor Mike Norris and City Council Members Ty Miller (District 1) and Ray Stevens (District 3) officially took the oath of office during the City Council business meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The ceremony was held in the council chambers inside the Community Wing of City Hall.

These Council Members were recently elected during the November 2024 election. Their leadership is set to guide Palm Coast as the city continues its commitment to enhancing quality of life, fostering smart-managed growth, and maintaining strong community connections.

After being sworn in, Mike Norris, the fifth Mayor of the City of Palm Coast, said, “I’d like to say thanks for all the support within the community and especially my wife Tracy and my family.” He ended the meeting by saying, “We are at an inflection point in the history of this city; either we’re going to strive and go forward and do great things and have a very vibrant city with great lives and places to work for everyone, or we’re going to be a tax burdened society, and people are going to be fleeing in droves. That’s not what I want. I want our kids to be able to come back here and live and work because this is their hometown. I’m very excited, and I’m fired up about helping this city and getting us on the right track." 

During the meeting, Council Member Theresa Carli Pontieri was selected to serve as Vice Mayor for the upcoming year. Council Member Pontieri is now the longest-serving member of the City Council, having served since November 2022. The City Council traditionally appoints a new Vice Mayor every November to assist with mayoral duties as needed.

In addition to their legislative responsibilities, City Council Members were assigned as liaisons to various service organizations for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, continuing the city’s collaborative efforts across multiple sectors:

• Affordable Housing Advisory Committee – Mayor Mike Norris
• Family Life Center – Vice Mayor Theresa Pontieri
• Flagler County Cultural Council – Vice Mayor Theresa Pontieri
• Flagler County Transportation Disadvantaged Local CoordinatingBoard – Mayor Mike Norris
• Flagler Schools Oversight Committee – Council Members Ty Miller and Charles A. Gambaro Jr.
• Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Circuit 7 – Council Member Ray Stevens
• Joint Cities and County Workshop – Council Member Ty Miller and Mayor Mike Norris
• Volusia-Flagler Transportation Planning Organization (previously known as River to Sea TPO) – Mayor Mike Norris
• St. Johns River Water Management District – Council Member Charles A. Gambaro Jr.
• Stewart Marchman Act (SMA) Healthcare Board – Potentially Council Member Ty Miller if time conflicts can be resolved
• Tourist Development Council – Vice Mayor Theresa Pontieri
• Flagler Humane Society Board – Vice Mayor Theresa Pontieri
