New Solar Panel Systems Bring Power Efficiency and Cost Savings to City Facilities, Fire Stations

In an effort to provide power efficiency and cost savings, the City of Palm Coast has recently installed solar panels on four of its major facilities, which include the Palm Coast Community Center, Southern Recreation Center, Fire Station 26, and new Fire Station 22 – the latter of which is soon to complete construction.

In an effort to provide power efficiency and cost savings, the City of Palm Coast has recently installed solar panels on four of its major facilities, which include the Palm Coast Community Center, Southern Recreation Center, Fire Station 26, and new Fire Station 22 – the latter of which is soon to complete construction.

For those that utilize these facilities, from residents who frequent both community centers, to firefighters that live at the respective Fire Stations, these enhancements will help power their lives, whether it’s a day of play or a workday.

“With the installation of these solar panels, we are making an investment in our community, our residents, and our public safety that will propel a tremendous savings for our taxpayers, while still providing the same efficiency that our community is accustomed to,” said Palm Coast City Architect Eric Gebo. “These 4 facilities are among the most frequently utilized and so the return on investment in this case is something that we will see sooner rather than later.”

The Southern Recreation Center (Completed in early 2023) was the first of the facilities to receive the solar panels, which were installed shortly after construction was completed. The Palm Coast Community Center was next with installation taking place in 2025. Both Fire Station 26 (Completed in July 2026) and new Fire Station 22, saw the latest installations – both of which took place in the last few months. The two fire stations alone are expected to save up to $25,000 in power usage each year, and the collective savings between the 4 facilities are New estimated to be up to $75,000 annually with a collected generated, with all current solar panels capable of producing over 500,000 kWh for the city each year.
