FDOT Outlines Traffic Changes for U.S. 1 Bridge Replacement at Pellicer Creek

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin lane closures along U.S. 1 over Pellicer Creek as part of a project to replace the northbound and southbound bridges at the Flagler/St. Johns County line. The construction area is approximately three-quarters of a mile north of the Old Kings Road roundabout on U.S. Highway 1. 

Drivers should expect single-lane closures in both directions of U.S. 1 from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Crews will begin constructing a temporary median crossover to support future traffic shifts during this project.

A reduced speed of 45 mph work zone speed limit will be in effect for both directions of U.S. 1 within the construction zone. The City of Palm Coast and FDOT urge all drivers to avoid distractions, follow posted signage, and use caution when traveling through the area. 

Marine traffic at Pellicer Creek will also be monitored to ensure safe passage of vessels during construction. 

The project to replace both U.S. 1 bridges over Pellicer Creek will progress in six major construction phases, with completion expected in Fall 2027.

While this project lies outside Palm Coast City Limits, the City is sharing this information to keep residents informed of regional construction activities that may affect daily travel and commute patterns.
