Canals

Freshwater canals are manmade waterways that provide conveyance for Stormwater and connect bodies of water.

Canal Dredging Update

The City of Palm Coast will be dredging a portion of the Pine Grove Waterway, over time significant amounts of debris and sediment have built up in the canal which has decreased the amount of Stormwater storage in this stretch of canal.  The intent is to restore the canal bottom back to the original depth which will increase the amount of water the canal can hold. The dredging will be taking place simultaneously with the currently under construction P-1 weir replacement downstream of this canal near Belle Terre Blvd, which also requires canal levels to be lowered. The anticipated time of completion for both of these projects is January 2026.

Canal Maintenance

Freshwater canals retain stormwater and levels are controlled by rain and are lowered for maintenance or anticipation of a major rain event and should maintain 80% clear of vegetation. Please report concerns by creating a case below!
