Street Lighting

The City of Palm Coast is expanding street lighting through the Master Street Lighting Program, a long-term effort to improve public safety, visibility, and walkability along key roadways. By installing continuous lighting in priority areas, the City is working to create safer conditions for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists after dark.

The Master Street Lighting Program is a strategic rollout focused on locations where lighting can make the greatest safety impact, including high-traffic corridors, major intersections, pedestrian crossings, and transit pickup areas. Projects are prioritized based on traffic volume, safety need, and feasibility, including access to existing poles and electrical connections. The program also emphasizes energy-efficient solutions, including LED lighting, to support long-term maintenance and cost-effective improvements.

Lighting the Way to Safety: Palm Coast’s Master Street Lighting Program

At the City of Palm Coast, we’re illuminating our streets to enhance public safety and visibility. Our Master Street Lighting Program is more than just pretty lights—it’s a strategic effort focused on the areas where you need it most. From marking busy intersections and bus stops to safeguarding your daily commute and evening strolls, we're committed to enhancing life after dusk.

Highlights of the program:

  • Intersection and entrance lighting: Designed to help motorists recognize key points on the road with ease—especially at night—using targeted General 75-Watt street lights.
  • Special lighting upgrades: Illuminating high-traffic crossroads, bus and school bus stops, and pedestrian crossings where visibility is critical.
  • Safety-driven rollout: Prioritizing locations with higher traffic volume, safety need, and existing infrastructure (such as poles and electrical access). Plus, our investment strategy ensures cost-efficiency and budget responsibility.

Looking to the future, we’re steadily implementing our continuous street lighting plan—already adding dozens of new LED lights and counting. Stay tuned for brighter, safer travels ahead!
